What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to reshape the thighs and reduce excess skin or fat. This improves the overall contour of the thighs and lower body, resulting in a smoother, firmer, and more toned appearance. Many patients choose a thigh lift after losing a significant amount of weight or because the natural aging process can result in looser skin and stubborn fat deposits. Thigh lifts allow these patients to enjoy a toned and proportionate look to complement the results of their fitness habits and healthy lifestyle for patients in Aspinwall and Apollo.

Who is a Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

A majority of thigh lift patients have lost a considerable amount of weight, but this is not always the case. Thigh lift candidates have some loose skin or excess soft tissue in the thigh region. They may face difficulty finding clothing that fits properly as a result. Before choosing a thigh lift, you should be at a stable, healthy weight for about six months. Patients should also be generally healthy overall, including being non-smokers with active lifestyles.

During a consultation, Dr. Falcon will review your concerns and health history to determine whether you are a suitable thigh lift candidate. Depending on your concerns and unique needs, he may recommend one of several basic types of thigh lifts, which includes an inner or medial thigh lift, mini thigh lift, outer or bilateral thigh lift, or vertical thigh lift. In many cases, your thigh lift can also be paired with liposuction to achieve the toned look you want.

“He is a wonderful surgeon. He did a fantastic job with a very complicated surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone needing an outstanding plastic surgeon.”

What is Recovery Like After a Thigh Lift?

After a thigh lift, you will have bandages and drains in place to reduce swelling and aid in proper healing. You will need to arrange for a trusted friend or family member to drive you home after the surgery. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are all normal after a thigh lift, particularly in the first several days after your surgery. Pain medication can help keep you comfortable through the early phases of the healing process. Most patients need to take up to two weeks off from work, school, or other routines after their thigh lift procedure so they can rest and recover. It is also important to avoid strenuous activity or lifting heavy objects for about six weeks after surgery. Because of residual swelling, results are not immediately noticeable, but you should see slimmer, toned thighs in several months. Dr. Falcon will monitor your healing during post-op appointments.
