A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures intended to restore the look of areas commonly affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding. The procedure is highly customizable according to the patient’s concerns and unique needs. A mommy makeover can include any of the following:
The procedures that you include in your mommy makeover can vary depending on your personal choice. Dr. Falcon can help guide you in customizing your mommy makeover so you can achieve the results you want. Our Natrona Heights Office is located 20 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh and 15 miles from Fox Chapel.
Candidates for mommy makeovers are typically those who have found that the effects of pregnancy or breastfeeding cannot be reversed through diet and exercise. Their pre-pregnancy shape may seem like an impossible goal. Often, these women will face loose, excess skin in the abdominal area and sagging, drooping, or deflated-looking breasts.
Because mommy makeover results can be lost through future pregnancies, it is generally recommended that you wait until you no longer wish to have children before choosing the procedure. Patients should also be at or near a stable, healthy weight and generally healthy overall. This includes being a non-smoker.
During a consultation, Dr. Falcon can review your concerns and health history to recommend whether a mommy makeover is a good option for you. During this appointment, you can also discuss your best procedure options. For example, you can choose between a breast lift, breast augmentation, or combination to achieve the look you once had or determine whether a tummy tuck or panniculectomy is best to create a toned stomach.
“I can say without hesitation that going to Dr. Falcon for surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made! The work he did to remove the loose skin on my chest was simply amazing! I look "normal" in a shirt for the first time since I was a teen.”
Recovery varies after a mommy makeover depending on which procedures you have chosen to include. Generally speaking, you can expect some swelling and discomfort, and should have a family member or trusted friend who can drive you home after surgery and care for you or your children. Following mommy makeover surgery, patients can take pain medication as prescribed to stay comfortable. On average, you will require about 1-2 weeks to rest and recover before returning to work, childcare responsibilities, or other routines. Mommy makeover patients should also note that during healing, you should not bend at the waist or pick up your children. Compression garments or supportive surgical bras are typically required, and you may have drains in place to reduce swelling if you have had a tummy tuck or liposuction. During post-op appointments, Dr. Falcon will review your healing progress and advise when you can return to various activities including exercise.
A mommy makeover is considered a cosmetic procedure, so health insurance does not generally cover the cost. For information about pricing or financing options, you may call our office. Our staff will happily answer any questions or schedule a consultation with Dr. Falcon.
