What is a Lip Lift
Lip lift surgery shortens the distance between the upper lip and the nose, enhancing the shape and projection of the upper lip. Unlike lip fillers, which add volume to the lips, a lip lift focuses on repositioning the lip to create a fuller, more youthful appearance. This procedure can make the lips appear more prominent, resulting in a more defined smile. Dr. Falcon’s practice focuses on personalizing each procedure to enhance your unique look.
What are the Benefits of a Lip Lift
There are several benefits to choosing a lip lift:
- Youthful Appearance: A natural lift to the upper lip can help you look younger and more refreshed.
- Permanent Results: Unlike lip fillers, which need to be replenished regularly, the lip lift provides permanent results
- Enhanced Lip Shape: A lip lift can restore a fuller, more defined lip line, creating a more balanced proportion between your facial features.
- Improved Smile: A lip lift can enhance your smile by making the upper lip more visible, which is often lost due to aging or genetics.
“I had minimal scarring on face after surgery, I was very pleased with my results.”
When to Choose a Lip Lift vs Lip Filler
While lip fillers are an excellent option for adding temporary volume to the lips, they may not provide the same lasting results as a lip lift. A lip lift is ideal if you’re looking for:
- A long-term solution to enhance your upper lip.
- A natural lift that does not require regular maintenance.
- A youthful appearance where the lip line is more pronounced and balanced.
However, if you’re looking for a temporary volume boost or want to experiment with how a fuller lip might look, lip fillers may be the right choice for you. Many patients opt for lip fillers first to determine if they want to commit to a lip lift in the future.
Who is a Candidate for Lip Lift
A good candidate for a lip lift is someone who desires a more defined, youthful smile and has realistic expectations about the outcome. Ideal candidates are in good overall health and may be experiencing a longer-than-desired distance between the upper lip and the nose, which is often caused by aging or genetics.
This procedure is also well-suited for those who want a permanent lip enhancement solution instead of using temporary fillers. It’s important to consult with Dr. Falcon at Falcon Plastic Surgery to determine if a lip lift aligns with your facial structure and aesthetic goals.

After gaining experience practicing with top cosmetic surgeons in New York City, Dr. Falcon purchased Falcon Plastic Surgery from his father in 2017. Since then, he has maintained a family-owned practice, offering accessible plastic surgery with a “less-is-more” approach, focusing on enhancing natural features in a comfortable and approachable environment.

What to Expect with a Lip Lift
Dr. Falcon will make small incisions during the procedure to minimize visible scarring. The excess skin is then removed, and the lip is lifted to create a more youthful and fuller appearance. There are a variety of lip lift techniques, including direct lip lift, corner lip lift, central lip lift, indirect lip lift, and a subnasal lip lift procedure. No matter the method, this cosmetic surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia; most patients can return home the same day.
What is Recovery Like After a Lip Lift
After your lip lift surgery, you will need someone to drive you home and assist you for the first few days following the procedure. You will likely experience mild swelling and bruising around the lip area, which is normal. Stitches will be placed under the nose and are typically removed within a week.
While most people can return to normal activities within 1-2 weeks, strenuous activities should be avoided for about 4 weeks. The final lip lift results will become visible once the swelling subsides and the healing process is complete, which typically takes around 3-6 months.
During follow-up appointments, Dr. Falcon will guide when it’s safe to resume more intense physical activity. With proper care and patience, your enhanced lip definition will be long-lasting, leaving you with a youthful and natural smile.
